2011 General Track Rules

1. No Alcohol will be permitted.

2. All vehicles must be operated in a safe manner at all times (this includes cars, trucks, tractors, and other vehicles).

3. Operator must be seated at all times. This means remaining in the seat with a minimum of one (1) hand on the steering wheel at all times while the tractor is in gear. No hand is permitted at any time to touch the fender. The exception is hand grip.
4. No riders will be allowed on the tractor.

5. Registration will close after the first hook of the class. Pre-registration for classes is allowed.

6. Each tractor may be entered in more than one (1) class. If the Tractor is in the Points Series, only the first hook counts towards the points.

7. All children must be able to safely operate tractor without assistance.

8. Competitors will have three (3) minutes to hook to the sled when it is his/her turn. If they are not ready, they must notify an official of any problems, and must drop 3 places. Track officials must know of any such occurrence. Any delay may result in disqualification.

9. All hooks are to start with a tight chain.

10. All competitors will receive two (2) attempts to move the sled. Once they pass the 25’ mark, they must keep that hook.

11. Once you’ve have hooked to the sled, there will be no refunds for that class. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

12. If the first three (3) contestants make a full pull, the class MAY be started over again at the track official’s discretion.

13. You may weigh in before each class. Everyone must weigh out. RPM’s will be checked at Random.

14. If you touch a line or go out of bounds (any tire), this will result in a disqualification. The sled may go out of bounds.

15. The first hook of the day has the option of a re-hook only.

16. All Charter Members have the right to enforce any and all rules.
17. A Floating finish must stay within the line of the boundary lines.

General Tractor Rules

1. All tractors must have working brakes and be able to stop themselves.

2. No portion of the tractor can interfere with the hooking of the sled during the pull.(weights) Kill switch must be easily accessible.

3. Minimum drawbar length is 6” from the center of the rear axle to the point of hook.

4. All drawbars must be stationary and rigid in all directions at all times.

5. Drawbar must be equipped with a loop or hole of a minimum of 1 ½”, with a minimum of ½” from the point of hook to the back of the drawbar, and ¼” to the front.

6. All tractors classes, except open, must have stock appearing frames that must be of OEM material. If frames are notched or modified, these areas must be reinforced.

7. All tractors in Lawn and Altered Mod Stock classes must have wide front axles. No tricycle front ends. Trikes WILL BE ALLOWED in Pro Stock and Diesel Classes ONLY.

8. All tractors must be two- (2) wheel drive or have the 4wd locked out.

9. Front axle may not extend past the stock frame.

10. No tractor shall have a wheelbase that exceeds 72” in length.

11. No tractor shall have a wheel track wider than 48” in width, including weights.

12. All tractors will have hoods. (If factory equipped).

13. All tractors must have a grille of some type. (If factory equipped).

14. All seats must be securely mounted.

15. All seats must have at least a 3” rigid backrest with no less than a 45-degree angle.

16. All tractors must have fenders. They should provide a definite barrier between the tire and the operator’s legs.

17. All tractors must have some type of foot support. Floorboards, pegs, pads, and running boards are best. This is to ensure that the operator’s feet cannot contact the ground or rear tire during the pull. You MAY NOT put your feet on the chassis for support.

18. All tractors must have either the stock exhaust, or a pipe that discharges vertically.

19. No shims will be allowed on clevis in Lawn Stock Class.

20. Automotive or Recreational Engines will NOT be allowed. Agricultural Engines only.

21. Any Turbo-charged Engine must have a “cross” in exhaust. (See officials for explanation)
22. Push ON scales / Push OFF scales.

 

Fuels and Fuel Containers

1. All forms of nitro methane (to include Nitrous Oxide) are illegal as fuel, or a fuel additive.

2. Legal fuels are: Gasoline, Diesel, and Propane. (Propane must be OEM)

3. No pressurized fuel tanks. (Unless OEM Propane).

 

Weights

1. All weights must be securely fastened.

2. No weights to exceed more than 8’ from the center of the rear axle forward.

3. Weights must not interfere with the hooking of the sled.

4. Any thing separated from the tractor while hooked to the sled will result in a disqualification.

5. The furthest point of weight attachment can be no more than 18” from the centerline of the rear axle back.

 

Tires

1. No dual wheels, studded tires, or chains will be permitted.

2. No automotive type tires permitted.

3. Maximum garden tractor type tires not to exceed 26”x12”x12” unless larger came from the factory.

4. Must be OEM type tires or suitable replacement.
5. Mod Stock Altered Class - turf or Ag cut tires allowed.

 

Safety Regulations

1. Helmets are recommended in all classes. Helmets are REQUIRED for pullers under 18 years old in the Pro Stock and Diesel Classes.

2. All drivers must have enclosed foot protection, long pants, and shirts.

3. All tractors must have shielding over belts, chains, flywheels, pulleys, or any other moving parts including billet steel or aluminum flywheels. This is to ensure driver safety.

4. Shielding over clutches and flywheels must be OEM or 1/8” thick steel, and ¼” thick aluminum.

5. All Open class Single Cylinder Tractors must have a scatter shield opposite the cam side of the motor; it must be 1/8” steel, or 3/16” aluminum. It must cover the full height and width of the block and be attached in a secure manner.

6. All tractors (except lawn stock) must have a working kill switch.

7. Kill switches must be mounted securely and easily accessible in the rear of the tractor. Kill switches must kill the engine and shut off any electric fuel pumps.

(When permitted). Track officials may check kill switches at any time for proper operation.

8. It is recommended that all tractors have a working fire extinguisher.

9. Must have full hood and side shields – Pro Stock Class and up. Twin Cylinder Open Class must have side shields on both sidesides- covering block and heads. OEM side shields are acceptable. Fabricated shields made of steel must be minimum 0.080" thick, or aluminum
minimum thickness of 3/16".

Wheelie Bars

1. All tractors must have wheelie bars. (Lawn Stock - optional)

2. Wheelie bar must be able to support the weight of the tractor when weighted to the heaviest class that it will be competing in.

3. Wheelie bar pads or wheels will be no more than 5” off of the ground, and no less than 5” beyond the rearmost part of the rear wheel. Pads should be a minimum of 3”x3” and wheel should be a minimum of 1” wide and 4” in diameter.

 

Protests

1. A tear down protest consists of a deposit of $50 at the time of the protest. This protest is for head removal. Protest may be made by anyone competing in the same class as tractor in question. Protested puller must match $50 with the winning side being awarded the money.

2. Protest must be made within 5 minutes of the conclusion of the class. If protested driver will not submit to a teardown, he/she will be considered illegal and forfeits any purse, prizes, or points awarded and the protest is considered failed. If the tractor in question is proven illegal, it must be proven legal before it will be allowed to compete again.

3. Engine teardown consists of head removal and carburetor removal.

4. Teardown is by the owner or the owner’s mechanic. At the owner’s request, the only witnesses to be: Owner, owner’s mechanic, and the tech/track officials.

 

Disqualifications

1. Misrepresentation of a tractor.

2. Adding weights after weigh-in.

3. Disobeying any of the rules spelled out in this book or announced rule changes.

4. Un-sportsmanlike conduct on and off the track.

5. Adjusting drawbar after being measured.

6. Leaving under a red flag.

7. Any loss of equipment.

Any disqualifications will result in a loss of hook fee and possibly prizes.
